no tone will give you powers. but the brain really does run on frequencies, slow breath
really does calm the body, and the earth really does ring at 7.83 hertz. this room makes those real —
and, below, tells you exactly which parts are science and which are lore. put on headphones for the beats.
i · the tone
brainwave band — the frequency of the state, not a switch that installs it
carrier tone — how the beat is delivered
or a solfeggio tone — pretty, and modern lore. see the ledger.

ii · the breath — the part with the strongest science behind it

follow the light. let it grow as you breathe in, shrink as you breathe out.
iii · the ledger — what is real and what is lore.
documented brainwave bands are real. delta, theta, alpha, beta and gamma are the measured frequencies of your brain's own electrical activity on an EEG. they are states the brain produces — not sounds that install them.
documented slow breathing near six breaths a minute reliably raises heart-rate variability and shifts you toward the calm, parasympathetic "rest" state. this is the best-evidenced thing in the room — the breath does the work, the tone is atmosphere.
documented the schumann resonance is real: the earth and ionosphere form a cavity that rings at about 7.83 hz. it is a genuine electromagnetic fact of the planet. (that it "tunes your brain" is not established — that part is lore.)
documented binaural beats are a real auditory illusion: play two close tones, one in each ear, and you hear a third "beat" at the difference. the perception is real. that is why headphones matter.
disputed whether those beats actually entrain your brain — improving focus, sleep or calm — is genuinely unsettled. some small studies find modest effects; many find none. treat it as a relaxation aid, not medicine.
myth the solfeggio "healing frequencies" (396, 528, 852…) were assembled in the 1970s from numerology. they are a pleasant tuning with no physical basis. use them because they sound nice, not because they heal.
myth that any frequency grants extrasensory perception or lets you sense at a distance. no controlled study has ever shown ESP. what meditation actually sharpens is interoception — the real inner sense: noticing your own breath, pulse and body. that is the sixth sense worth training.
a small caution: don't run tones while driving or operating anything. if you have a seizure disorder, skip the pulsed (isochronic) mode. this room is for rest, not treatment.
